8 Ways A Nutritionist Can Help You

Apr 15, 2019 | Nutrition, Wellness

Think about all the successful people in this world who have achieved great things. The one thing they had in common is they had a coach. Whether that be a sports coach, business coach, life coach, career coach, skills coach (i.e. musician, performer).

And if you’re anything like me and have struggled with numerous health conditions, you may have noticed that that the conventional way of treating diseases is based on suppressing symptoms with drugs and managing the disease after it has already occurred rather than preventing and reversing disease by addressing its underlying causes.

As a holistic nutritionist I assess your diet, current and past health and lifestyle (looking into sleep habits, exercise habits, stress levels, adrenal health, thyroid health, digestive function, hormonal health and so much more), I get to the root cause of the issue and put together a clear plan of action so you can achieve your health goals. Here are 8 ways a nutritionist can help you.

1. Accountability
Having someone to check in on you, and hold you accountable for your actions. It’s hard in this busy world we live in to hold ourselves accountable for everything. It’s so easy to make excuses for why we couldn’t do something, but having someone to hold you accountable for that and calling you out on your “BS” can be a game changer for helping you get to where you want to be. It also gives you more time to focus on other things, so you don’t need to hold yourself accountable for everything.

2. Identify blind spots
Have you tried resolving your health challenges by following guidelines that someone posted on google, or tried a diet that worked for your friend or someone you follow on social media but doesn’t work for you? You are an individual, you need to see a professional qualified nutritionist who can create a treatment plan for your individual needs. What works for one person often doesn’t mean it’ll work for you. I pick up the missing link as to why something’s not working for you, I get to the root cause of it and then put steps in place to change it.

3. Helps get you out of your comfort zone

We often fear change. I see many clients who know they need to change their ways, but struggle to because they are either comfortable with their routines, scared changing habits will be too hard, they are scared of failure, they think they’ll never be able to eat an ice-cream or drink wine again (or basically have no fun – this is not my style btw, I’m all about balance). These are all limiting beliefs which are based around fear. We have a million and 1 excuses for not being able to do something – not being able to make lunch, not being able to get up early to exercise, not being able to stop drinking that glass of wine every night after work that helps us wind down, not being able to say no to that last piece of cake, not being able to go to bed early. A holistic nutritionist will help you uncover your fears and put a plan in place so you can move past your limiting beliefs.

4. Discipline
It’s so hard to be disciplined in all areas of you life. A nutritionist will set boundaries for you in order to achieve your health goals and reach your full potential.

5. Save you time and money
How many times have you spent money trying different diets, buying supplements you don’t know are good or suited for you, downloading eBooks or buying books you don’t read and follow. This wastes time and money. A nutritionist will put a clear action plan together for you which is personalised to you. When I work with clients, I put together a treatment plan that is easy to follow, fits in with your lifestyle so you can achieve your health goals faster and by spending less money in the long run. Short term investment for long-term gains (my clients always say it’s the best thing they have ever done for their health as they have the tools and knowledge to look after themselves in the future).

6. A clear, easy to follow treatment plan

This is your road map to health, it allows you to make easy, sustainable changes over a period of time, not all at one. You will know exactly WHY you need to make these changes rather than trying to do it all on your own and feeling overwhelemed.

7. Motivation, education and a confidence boost!

Sometimes you just need a little motivation and push in the right direction. Education also plays a key role in meeting your health goals, when you are educated about YOUR WHY, (your why is the root cause of your health issues), you better understand the reasoning behind what a nutrition coach recommends, and we give you the confidence to know what to do in the future to prevent it from happening again.

If you feel it’s time to get your health in check, have a treatment plan to follow so you can reach your health goals why waste another day not feeling your best.
